$350 fully refundable reservation deposit

A $350 fully refundable reservation deposit reserves a specific puppy for your family and is applied toward the puppy's price. Because it is refundable, reserving simply holds the puppy while you finish deciding.

In-person visits are scheduled for families who have completed payment for their puppy or placed a $350 fully refundable reservation deposit, so our young puppies keep a calm routine and each family gets dedicated time.

Breed Basics

Useful Miniature Dachshund Information

A short, honest introduction to the breed so families can decide whether a Miniature Dachshund fits their home.

Size and build

Miniature Dachshunds are shown at 11 pounds and under at around a year old — the same breed as the Standard, simply smaller, with the long body and short legs the breed was developed for.

Temperament

Bright, curious and devoted scent hounds. They bond closely with their families, notice everything, and have a stubborn streak that responds far better to patience and rewards than repetition.

Coats and colors

Smooth, long-haired and wirehaired coats appear in the breed, in colors and patterns including cream, red, black and tan, chocolate, and dapple. Coat and color affect grooming, not character.

Back health awareness

The breed's long-backed structure means owners should keep their Dachshund lean, encourage steady low-impact exercise, lift with support under the chest and hindquarters, and discourage repetitive jumping. Discuss individual medical questions with your veterinarian.
