Meet Rosie

Sweet • Gentle • Affectionate

Rosie is a lovely chocolate dapple long-haired Miniature Dachshund with a soft, expressive look and a charming presence. In her photographs she settles calmly into a knitted blanket and watches quietly, then joins in happily when there is something to share outside. These are observations of Rosie as a puppy today rather than guarantees about her adult temperament.

About This Puppy

Rosie is a nine-week-old female chocolate dapple long-haired Miniature Dachshund, available now at $1,100, AKC registered with her vaccinations up to date. Her coat is a warm chocolate broken by the mottled dapple pattern, with tan points above her eyes and along her muzzle, chest and legs, and the silky feathering of the long-haired variety just beginning to come through on her ears and tail — a gentle brush a few times a week keeps that fringe smooth as it lengthens. Her photographs come from ordinary days: nestled into a soft cream blanket indoors, looking up with her pale eyes, and out on the path in the sunshine alongside a littermate. At nine weeks she is in an important stage of early development and socialization, and this profile is here to give families a closer look at her as they consider whether she may be the right fit for their home. Text us for more photographs, a short video of Rosie, or a walkthrough of what reserving her involves.

Care and health information is published only where Honeybrook Miniature Dachshunds has confirmed it applies to this puppy.

Rosie's Coat — Common Questions

  • What does "chocolate dapple" mean?

A chocolate dapple Dachshund has a chocolate (brown) base coat carrying the dapple pattern, giving it lighter mottled patches across the body. Nose leather and eye rims on chocolate dogs are typically brown rather than black, and eye color can range from dark to lighter amber, sometimes with one or both eyes blue.

  • What is the difference between long-haired and smooth-haired Dachshunds?

A smooth (shorthair) Dachshund has a short, sleek, close-lying coat that needs very little maintenance — a weekly wipe-down or brush is usually enough. A long-haired Dachshund has a longer, silkier coat with feathering on the ears, chest, legs and tail; that feathering keeps growing and can tangle, so long-haired dogs need regular brushing, especially behind the ears and on the trousers and tail.

  • How often should a Dachshund be groomed?

As a general routine: brush a smooth coat about once a week; brush a long coat two to four times a week and daily during heavy shedding. Bathe only as needed, typically every four to eight weeks or when dirty, using a dog-appropriate shampoo. Check and trim nails every few weeks, clean the ears as your veterinarian advises — Dachshunds' long, pendulous ears trap moisture — and work on daily tooth brushing, since small breeds are prone to dental disease.
