Meet Bear
Sweet • Curious • Affectionate
Bear is a chocolate and tan long-haired Miniature Dachshund puppy with a soft, sweet expression and an affectionate way of settling near people. In his photographs he looks curious about whatever is happening around him, then happily curls up on the rug once the exploring is done. These are observations of Bear as a puppy today rather than guarantees about his adult temperament.

Learn About Puppy VisitsAbout This Puppy
Bear is a ten-week-old male Miniature Dachshund, available now at $1,000, AKC registered with his vaccinations up to date. His coat is a rich chocolate with warm tan markings above the eyes, along the muzzle and down his legs, and the silky feathering of the long-haired variety is filling in around his ears and chest — a gentle brush a few times a week keeps that fringe tangle-free as it lengthens. His photographs come from ordinary days indoors: sitting attentively on the rug, tilting his head at a new sound, and stretching out to rest by the fireplace. At ten weeks he is in an important stage of early development and socialization, and his profile is here to give families a closer look at him as they consider whether he may be the right fit for their home. Text us for more photographs, a short video of Bear, or a walkthrough of what reserving him involves.
Care and health information is published only where Honeybrook Miniature Dachshunds has confirmed it applies to this puppy.
Bear's Coat — Common Questions
What coat types do Dachshunds have?
The breed has three coat varieties: smooth (also called shorthair), longhaired and wirehaired. All three occur in Miniature Dachshunds. Coat variety affects grooming and appearance, not the fundamental character of the breed.
What is the difference between long-haired and smooth-haired Dachshunds?
A smooth (shorthair) Dachshund has a short, sleek, close-lying coat that needs very little maintenance — a weekly wipe-down or brush is usually enough. A long-haired Dachshund has a longer, silkier coat with feathering on the ears, chest, legs and tail; that feathering keeps growing and can tangle, so long-haired dogs need regular brushing, especially behind the ears and on the trousers and tail.
How often should a Dachshund be groomed?
As a general routine: brush a smooth coat about once a week; brush a long coat two to four times a week and daily during heavy shedding. Bathe only as needed, typically every four to eight weeks or when dirty, using a dog-appropriate shampoo. Check and trim nails every few weeks, clean the ears as your veterinarian advises — Dachshunds' long, pendulous ears trap moisture — and work on daily tooth brushing, since small breeds are prone to dental disease.
